You applied for the Canadian Dental Care Plan and now you are waiting. Here is how to see where your application is, and what to do the moment you are approved.

Check your status online

Sign in to your My Service Canada Account (MSCA). Under the Canadian Dental Care Plan section you will see your application status and, once approved, your coverage start date and co-payment level. If you applied for a family, each member is listed separately.

Check by phone

Call Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342 (TTY 1-833-677-6262). Have your Social Insurance Number and date of birth ready. Lines are busiest Monday mornings; mid-week afternoons are faster.

What each status means

Approved? Here is what to do next

  1. Wait for your coverage start date. Appointments before that date are not covered.
  2. Find a provider that accepts the CDCP. Registered dental hygienists are CDCP providers, so you can book a cleaning directly, no dentist referral needed.
  3. Bring your member card or welcome letter and photo ID to your first visit.
  4. Ask the clinic to confirm your co-payment before treatment. It is 0%, 40% or 60% depending on family income.

Yours Dental Hygiene in southeast Edmonton bills the CDCP directly and is open seven days a week, 9am to 9pm. Call (825) 402-6111 and we can check whether your coverage has started before you come in.
