Teeth Whitening in Edmonton Starts With Clean Teeth
Teeth Whitening Edmonton uses professional-strength peroxide gel at Yours Dental Hygiene. Coffee, tea, red wine and years of everyday staining do not come off with drugstore strips. The gel is applied by a registered dental hygienist, after we have checked your teeth and gums and removed any plaque that would block the gel.
Custom-fitted take-home trays you use for 10 to 14 days are available now, and single-visit in-clinic whitening is launching shortly. Both are supervised, and both include desensitizing gel and aftercare.
Teeth Whitening Options in Edmonton
In-Clinic Whitening or Custom Take-Home Trays
In-clinic whitening takes about 60 to 90 minutes. We protect your gums, apply the gel in two or three cycles, and you leave noticeably whiter. Sensitive Teeth Treatment may be considered when tooth sensitivity is a concern. Take-home trays are made from impressions of your own teeth, so the gel stays where it should, and you whiten 30 to 60 minutes a day at your own pace.
- In-clinic: one visit, results the same day
- Best before an event, wedding or photos
- Includes shade record and aftercare kit
- Take-home: two short visits plus home use
- Best for sensitive teeth and top-ups
- Trays are yours to keep for future refills
Whitening is cosmetic and is not covered by insurance or the Canadian Dental Care Plan. The cleaning we recommend beforehand usually is. Call for current whitening fees.

Who Whitening Works For
Natural Enamel Whitens. Crowns and Fillings Do Not.
Whitening works well on yellow or brown staining from coffee, tea, wine, smoking and age. Grey staining from tetracycline or an injured tooth responds more slowly, and we will be honest about what to expect.
Crowns, veneers and fillings keep their colour. If you have a restoration on a front tooth, we show you how it would look next to whitened enamel before you decide.

Sensitivity
Some people feel brief zings during or after in-clinic whitening. It settles within 48 hours. Every treatment includes desensitizing gel, and if you already have sensitive teeth we can:
- Recommend take-home trays instead
- Use a lower-strength in-clinic protocol
- Apply fluoride or desensitizing treatment first
How Long Does Whitening Last?
Most people stay noticeably whiter for one to three years. How long your result lasts depends on:

Whitening is worth considering if you notice:
- Teeth that look yellow in photos
- Staining that a cleaning did not remove
- An event coming up where you want to smile confidently
- Uneven colour between front teeth
